Title: Old Subject, 1 Piece Valve Stems ?
Post by: Dave M (RIP) on October 17, 2011, 03:48:00 pm
I know this has gone around before, however since I originally posted about Herman Powers having the 8" one piece valve stems for the steel wheel inside dual.  Then folks started calling them, Herman Powers kept saying they never had them, no idea how the story got started.
WELL today I stopped by the Herman Powers shop in Nac, asked for one, was told they never had them, so I mentioned that one of their men went and  got one for me last year and that he just walked into the garage and came Back with one.  So the counter man and I went into the garage and he went right to the drawer where he found another one for me.  It is part # 515S8, the last one in the store he says.
They now might start stocking them, not sure on that one, at least they now know what we are talking about.  I mentioned that I would repost the info.

The "Tire Man" is popular with many in LD land:

The only other mark on the new brass stem is a circle with EB in center.

I Googled the part number - do they look anything thing like these from Beico?  They have quite a few "515S8" part numbers

Michelle,  You pegged it exactly and at $11.00.  Think I paid Herman Powers slightly more, but no problem.
The amazing part, they did not now they ever  had them, if the black man had not gotten one for me last year, I would not have known either.

Would be interesting if Power restocks them now; they do a fair amount tire business for FT owners.  If there's demand, Power has been (in our experience) responsive to the customer.

Looks like they come in "plain old" brass and shiny chrome for a slight upcharge.

Just maybe a telephone call (936) 564-8751 from a few of us asking if they have the 8" Valve Stems for the inside steel wheel # 515S8  They might start to stock them ?  I am sure they can be trained into stocking them.

Best of all, dirt cheap compared to the "Dually valve stem" site.
