Title: Braund Antenna
Post by: wds3135 on October 28, 2011, 02:25:00 pm
Was just wondering how many Foretravels are equipped with a Braund Antenna ? I was up on my roof the other day and was spraying some of the moving parts and the plastic flange broke on me. Has anyone else had problems with their antenna? If so did you change to another kind of antenna? How hard was it to change?

I took mine off and threw it in the garbage. Using that space for another solar panel and we use free standing sattelite dish

John,
Interesting that you took off your off-air TV antenna. Earlier this year we took off our off-air TV antenna when we got our roof painted so we could move our four 2'x5' solar panels closer to the sides of the roof to give us more room down the center of our coach. But after we re-installed our 4 solar panels back on the roof in their new position, we later figured we did not need all the new center room and put two additional solar panels up there.
We could not have made this change if we did not remove our off-air antenna.

Figure that if we later want an off-air antenna, we would buy the Winegard MA1000W motorized Sensar III and mount it further back on our roof where I can find room for it.

Barry, I should have said 2 more panels 5'x3'(150watt) each and I have never used the antenna  and I also took off the auto sat' dish too as that is no good to us either as we use Star choice, the only really good sat service way down to southern Mexico. A few of my US friends we meet up with down there also hook up to us as their Dish and Direct systems are almost useless that far south. We get feeds from Detroit (east) and Seattle(west) as well as all the Canadian networks, do not miss a thing (if that is what you want )

Braund was, and maybe still is a popular TV antenna and I would believe that any on the old line travel trailer dealers would have any replacement part you would need.
Maybe this is what you need?  BRAUND ANTENNA PARTS - BLACK COVER # 12662 - RV PARTS on eBay! (http://compare.ebay.com/like/270396613024?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y)

It was the mounting flange on the antenna head itself, but since then we have found the company's web site and have ordered a new replacement head . I had just wondered if anyone else had any problems with their braund antenna, and had changed out to something else. Thank you for your reply.
