What's everyone using to stick throw rugs to the carpet so they don't slide around? Thanks.
jor
I use a couple throw rugs to keep my feet warm, I had ceramic flooring installed and love it.
???? Our mats and rugs on carpet crawl because of the nap on the carpet. They don't slide around. We use a non-skid material under items on hard surfaces.
Yea, no prob with the hard surfaces. Our last two rigs had tile and we didn't have a problem. Just looking for something to hold down the throw rugs on carpet. Thanks.

Nails !!
No, they do sell a mesh thing that goes between the carpwt and throw so check at any carpet dealer or box store
John
In addition to the "mesh thing" that John refers to (I think he means a mat/pad), there is also special mesh tape. We used it with our two throw rugs in the Airstream (to protect the WHITE :o carpeting... probably the DUMBEST color ever to be used in a travel trailer!)... see below.
I will say that the tape we used (back in 2006 or so... from Home Depot, IIRC), eventually did allow the carpets to "creep." I did find a similar product on Amazon - click on this link, and scroll down to the first review as it contains some very good advice: Amazon.com: Intertape 9970 Indoor Carpet Tape 1.87-Inches x 36-Yards: Home (http://www.amazon.com/Intertape-9970-Indoor-1-87-Inches-36-Yards/dp/B000I1EHK0/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hg_1)
Good luck!
I used some of the mesh tape on mine, but had a heck of a time getting the sticky residue off the hard wood floor.
Screws and finishing washers keep our runner from heading toward the passenger side. (Just put 'em in the feet of the runner and he can't move :)). Would probably work on rugs too :)) :)))
jor. I tried everything known to God or man, all of the tapes, mesh, mats. stickies, etc. JD is correct, the nap on the carpet will creep the runner or throw rug, sooner than later. The only answer as far as I am concerned is screws thru the runner or throw and the carpet into the wooden subfloor. Put the large screw head thru a finishing cap and snap over the head. These are available at your hardware or "big box" store in black, brown or white. Even this will wrinkle some eventually. This is how I secure the small rug at the entry to the bedroom from the bath.
Our latest anti-rug-creep solution seems to be working on our carpeting:
We cut heavy clear chair mats with those bumps on the bottom to fit under each rug. We have a piece of anti-skid on top of the clear chair mats and a rug on top of the anti-skid. Screwing a snap to the floor carpet and a snap head on each clear chair mat keeps mat in place and nothing moves anymore.
We have had good performance with a roll of carpet tape purchased at Wally World on the throw rugs we bought at Target. That's our story and we're sticking to it.
Wasn't there a post awhile back about a product available at Walgreen's for something that kept rugs from moving on carpet?
We tried cutting up an old chair pad and glueing it to the bottom side of a rug ("bumps" down)--didn't work.
We tried hall runner--clear plastic-- with "bumps on it--didn't work--too flimsy so it crept anyway.
We tried screws and snaps--looked crappy--DW didn't like it -- so it didn't work.
Finally, after cleaning carpet, went to Sam's Club, bought three chair pads ($19.95 ea). Cut one up to fit in front of driver's seat and passenger's seat (almost invisible and no creeping). Pads are 36"x48" so one fits without cutting and the second was cut to cover remainder of carpet "hallway" between couch and chairs. WORKS--WORKS--WORKS--NO CREEPING!!
The only sure fire method of holding our throw rugs and runner in place was 1 1/2" staples implanted with an air nail gun. They hid themselves in the nap of the throw rug and they never moved. Take them up with a pry bar if they need to be moved.
RE Are those "bumps" down towards the carpet or up towards the rug?
Chair mat bumps are face down toward carpet to reduce chair mat moving. Anti-skid is on top of chair mat to reduce rug moving.
I like this method. Thanks for the tip!!!
