Title: Thetford Toilet vale Leaking while flushing
Post by: Don & Tys on November 16, 2011, 12:36:44 am
So these RV toilets are new to me, but I am pretty sure there isn't supposed to be water coming out around the valve while you are flushing it! I had it removed while I was redoing the pedestal covering (in lino to replace carpet, yuck!) as part of our Bamboo flooring install. The coach is relatively new to us, so we haven't camped in it (except for the first night we got it home and the power went out all over So Cal). Anyway, while working on the trim I noticed some water on the newly installed lino on the top of the pedestal. The previous owners had the toilet replaced right before they traded it in. Since there was carpet on the pedestal before, I am not sure if it was leaking before. I did try to tighten the three mounting screws that hold the valve assembly in place, and that slowed the leak down some. It wasn't rushing out to begin with but now it's just a drip or two while you are holding down the lever. Being that this toilet is pretty new, please tell me this isn't par for the course in RV toilets! Is it common for these valves to leak? It appears not to be a low end of their range (can't remember the exact model just now, but it was some variant of the Aquamagic and they go for about $260 at CW).
Any ideas? Just replace the valve?
Thanks,
Don
