Title: 10KW ? Power Tech/Kubota
Post by: Dave M (RIP) on November 22, 2011, 05:27:37 pm
Sure surprise when changing air filter today, found this tag on generator. Reminds me of the saga of Steve & Michelle last year.
Been hunting an fuel issue on the Kubota, found #4 injector leaking, will need new seals for it.  Very slight, very slow leak but still a leak.

Dave,

Can you tell if it's an entire replacement generator or just the electrical end?  Is yours in a quiet box?

I don't think we have a new tag on ours ID-ing it as a 12kW now, since only the electrical end was replaced.  We still have the original engine-side.

Do wonder what happened on yours.

Michelle, Yes it is in a quiet box, I am not certain if the engine is original or newer, guess need to run a track on the serial number. Everything seems to be original or the tech that redid it was very careful.
The crazy part, I have replaced the air filter many times, been in that compartment, just never looked at the tag on generator.  SO you know I was sorta shocked, then laughed,  thought about your ordeal last year.
Sure would be interesting to know the rest of the story.  SO who knows how many hours on it.  Meter reads 1887 hrs I think, I am trying to wear it out, if I can, I can prove I have had a great time. Besides I am not trying to save it for the DW's next OM.  I know it will go way over 10 K hours for the Kubota, not sure about the Croatia made generator, will keep up with the bearing.
Cheers & Beers

Lucky me, I finally was able to locate the exact cause of the leak at #4 injector, it was the rubber return fuel line, seems it was a case of hose getting old, so I cut off the end, and reattached it, wow, leaked more.  So I used two spring clamps on it, they are a pain in the butt to get them on correctly, BUT that solved the leak issue.  IT initially looked like the injector needed new seals, so I got to playing today when I finally found the real issue.

Now I will install new High Class 1/8" return hose with the woven fabric, from the injector to the bulkhead fitting on back side of generator sound box using double spring clamps at both ends.  While I am at it, guess will also replace the 5/16" feed hose beside it from the bulkhead fitting on rear of sound box. Oh Joy  ;D
