First of all, happy Thanksgiving to one and all!
I need to replace the front leveling valve on our 97 U320. It leaks so it won't stay in travel mode. Have a new valve but no instructions on how to adjust the arms. I'm thinking I could remove air lines, linkage arms, (without changing their positions), remove valve and install new one, then put the arms back on the new valve. Of course all air would dumped and coach would be chalked and blocked. Would the new valve not be in the same position as far as height goes as the old one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't replaced a ride height valve, but what you suggested is what I would do. There is probably enough dirt on the rod so that putting it back to the same place would be no problem. After the replacement, check the ride height and make an adjustment of the rod length between the clamps if needed. Coach needs to be on a flat surface for the check. Do the rear valves first then the front one. The rear ones can be done without going under the coach. The rod is held in place and adjusted with a hose clamp at the ends.
Be sure to have safety blocks in place before getting under there.
You will need to adjust the new valve/arm after installation. Yes the position on the arm on the old one is a good ball park, but may not be exact.
Brett, While on the subject of height valves.
Is there a way to disable the HWH leveling system and still have the height valves function so coach can travel ?
I ask as I know of a coach that has been in storage a long time and the HWH leveling system in inoperable. If coach is sold it will have to be moved but I am not sure that it can be without first repairing the HWH system.

Manually level the coach with the parking brake on then pull the 7.5 fuse in the control box in the bay. See posting on leveling valve. We had all 3 changed $984.82 at lazy days Tucson
Jerry, The problem is that the HWH system does not respond at all. All Lights both yellow and red are on on the touch pad along with the Green travel valve. When we tried to lift the coach manually nothing happened. I know that the control box and pad have to go back to HWH for inspection and repair but I am afraid that the coach will have to be moved first.

Can't you disconnect the adjusters and manually set the as long as you have air pressure in the lines?

The member that sent this to me was explicit that the procedure can be difficult and if done wrong damage to the system can be done. He sent it to me as a PM so I will respect his wishes .He is active here so if he should want everyone to have the procedure I will let him post it.
I would hate to post it and have someone injured or do permanent damage if not followed to the letter. The coach that I am referencing has been in storage for years and the HWH system is toast, unlikely to happen to others except under extraordinary circumstances.

Ok, replaced the valve and checked to make sure valve was in the (neutral) position. It was. Set the ride height to 8 1/4 inches for travel mode. Just for grins I checked all the other air bags to see what their height was. This is what I came up with!!
Left front fwd- 8 1/2" ,left front aft-9", RFF-9", RFA-9 1/4", LRF-7-1/4", LRA-7 1/2"
RRF-7 1/2", RRA- 8". Is this unusual or are they all out of adjustment? This was done with the coach in the travel mode and pretty much level ground. Any and all comments welcome. Thanks, Richard B.

I would start by raising both sided in the rear to spec= 8 1/4" and then recheck the fronts.
