Title: EGT & Boost Gauges
Post by: Jimmy Freytag on December 04, 2011, 11:40:09 am

Started fabricating from a few small pieces of wood a mount for the Turbo Boost and Turbo Pyrometer gauges. I think I can put them in a visible spot on the little deck just above transmission selection panel.

J.D. this is what I did for my guages

I would say boost and EGT...
Here is the pod I used for my 93 U280. Its smg ID 24. I can't figure out how to attach it from my 93 U280 upgrades album...

Have noticed some interest in monitoring the EGT & Boost info and can assure you that a simple change from the original Cowl muffler to the resonator will give lower EGT  and Higher Boost readings resulting in more hp and better mpg. Try it, you will like it. ^.^d

Those are nice installations on the GVs. Unfortunately, the space on the U295 in a similar area is much more limited. I think I have figured out a vertical arrangement that may work.

I have my Banks gauges under the dash to the right of radio. Seems to work ok. I again second Dave on the EGT temp after removing the muffler-does not make sense to have it on system and wish I had done the change to Resonator 2 yrs ago. Love that touch more growl, but love the drastic temp drop even more.

Banks gauges were under the dash on the right when we bought the coach. I found them very difficult to see. I've been trying the get them to a more visible spot. I've had limited success so far. We'll see how the next iteration works.

The resonator is on the list of changes to make. The current pipes, including muffler, get the exhaust from the engine to a point outside the coach. That will have to do for a while.

If I can get the gauges up where I can see them, I will be more aware and pleased at the better readings that I should see after I change the exhaust system.

I had room on my dash panel on the lower left corner to install the boost gauge. Can't remember what's inside on the lower right but there is enough room on the lower right front to install an EGT gauge. I'll post a pic tomorrow.
