Title: Side window size
Post by: Kerry on December 09, 2011, 02:18:50 pm
Does anybody know what the side windows, fame and all removed size of the opening is?

I have a 1995 U295 and it has come time to replace the refrigerator. We are thinking of going to a household refrigerator as a replacement. Our current refrigerator is a Dometic side by side 32" wide and our front door is only 24" wide. We need 26" for the replacement to fit so if the side window removed would allow 26" that would be great. Before I remove it I was thought that someone here might know.

Thank you all Kerry

Give James a call at Extreme Graphics he will know as he takes them out when he paints the coaches.

What is depth of refrig? Do doors come off? Call FOT and ask how to get it out, or Mike at MOT

When CW replaced my Reefer they took out the window on right front, placed a sheet of cardboard on the table and used a forklift to slide reefers onto. If you do this watch very carefully that the plastic trim on the inside of the window is not damaged .

Thanks for all that replied. I called Extreme( thanks Keith ) and they said that you take 1 1/8" off of the outside measurement but to be sure they said to remove the window and take a measurement.
I measured mine and they are 27 1/4" x 55 1/4" so "IF" they are right I will be 26 1/8" sooo if they are right the boss(wife) will get the refrigerator she wants. "make boss happy"!!!

Now how do I get the window out myself...Thanks Kerry

Kerry, Taking out the window is at least a two man job.
Remove all the interior window trim, valances etc.  Remove the vinyl strip inside that covers the screw heads.  Use a putty knife inside and outside to loosen sealant.  Push evenly on window from inside til sealant starts to pull off body, and continue on around window. Window is in two parts, one inside and the outside has the glass attached.
I am not sure what you would use to replace sealent that FT uses, someone here probably knows. Be careful, plastic trim inside is probably hardened and will break up easily.

When Xtreme reinstalled my windows after the painting, they used a new type seal on outside, and it works, no more air noise around the drivers side window.. Would check with Xtreme for info on correct material for sealing between window frame and outside skin.
The original sealer dried out and leaked.  IN fact would recommend everyone change out the sealer for a quieter ride, also no more cold air in winter coming in large window next to easy chair, make you smile. :)

Gary thanks for the steps I thought that was how the window came out but wasn't quite sure, working with glass I want to be a little more careful. Want to reuse window.

DaveM I spoke to them at Extreme and one of my wish list is to take MH to them and have them do the roof with the glass particles and cover my antenna holes.

Thank you all...I'LL BE BACK, lol just started my renovations so I know I'll need more advise. Kerry

Kerrybob,
Write down the exact window opening measurements when you do this job.  If you ever replace that window, you'll need those exact dimensions to order your window replacement...Ask Neal Pillsbury...He replaced his windows on his 1998 a while back.

(edit)  I don't recall if you also need the radius for the opening corners as well.
