Title: 1997 Foretravel U320 being parted out
Post by: Barry Beam on December 18, 2011, 08:37:46 am
Someone sent me this info about a 1997 FT U320 at a salvage yard and they are parting it out.  Thought maybe this maybe be of use to someone in need of parts for their coach.  Not sure what the damage is on the coach, as the pictures don't really show damage.  Looks good from the pictures.

Hi Barry,

If I'm not mistaken, this coach had a fridge fire; you can see what looks to be dry chemical residue in the photo of the dash. No other interior photos. Darned shame, that. Nice coach otherwise.

Another reason to review the older posts here, pull that fridge and make the compartment fire resistive. Just not that hard of a job. The older your fridge is, the more likely you will have a fire.

Santa may like a hole in the roof but no one else will. :)

There is also a 2001 U270 that had a front end fire near Benson, AZ 2 weeks ago. It was towed from Twin Lakes at Saint David, AZ. From what I could tell, the fire started at the battery connections with the battery cut-off switch. There had been a history of inverter failures (3) and a battery charger was being used to act as a converter.???

Dash was pretty badly burned as was the front cap near the door and top of front cap. The fire re-flashed a couple of times until the battery cables were cut. Lots of interior smoke damage in the LR and kitchen area.

Don't know which insurance co. was involved but, could find out if there is any interest.

Oh, yes. The insurance Co. is supposed to be replacing it with a U320 since that's what the premium being charged indicated.

Maybe some good will come from a bad situation.

Any interest let me know,

John
