Title: ELECTRIC MIRRORS ON 1992 U225
Post by: ROADSTAR04 on December 18, 2011, 07:18:34 pm
The electric mirrors on our U225 are not working and no power to the switches. There are some wiring that has been disconnected and rewired. The wiring schematics I have are in pretty ruff shape and I believe incomplete. I sure would appreciate any help obtaining the schematics for a 1992 U225. I would like to put it back in the original configuration.  Linda and i would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

The electric mirrors on our U225 are not working and no power to the switches.

On our 1993 U225 there is a fuse panel behind the speedometer area of the dashboard. The top of the entire dashboard (from left to right) is on a hinge and can be raised. On the left there is a main panel with most of the fuses for the systems (including the mirrors). In the middle there is a smaller fuse panel for the radio and some other systems. Check on those first. If nothing else you should be able to start from that fuse panel; if the fuse is not blown then check for 12vdc to ground on both sides of the fuse.

There are some electrical schematics that have been uploaded to the files forum and Barry might also have some on his site.

Good luck!

Craig

Try turning the ignition on. To get the heating to work on my mirrors I have to turn the lights on.

An FYI,

Friday the 23rd, we stopped on I-44 in MO, at Colaws  http://colawrvsalvage.com/ (http://colawrvsalvage.com/)  and found they did not have even 1 Foretravel in the 500 salvage coaches in the field.  But they did have used mirrors, lots of styles in the warehouse.  The place is amazing, in that they have taken apart coaches and have lots of parts that would or could work for us.  They have inverters, water heaters, furnaces, micro waves, and other appliances.  In addition they have bolts and rolls for fabrics, rows and rows of shelves of parts.

They have 3 or 4 counter guys in used parts, photos of what you are looking for helps them find the correct parts.  They were helpful and friendly.

Saw a set of Foretravel stainless mirrors w/top hats on Ebay for $1200, buy it now price.  How do the prices compare with Colaws?

Dave, I love Colaws. Have a SIL 50 miles north of there and I always manage a stop to look around.  Its  A CW on STEROIDS. Only FT they had was stripped clean and crushed about two years ago. I like it that they will let you roam around and you are right with a picture you can go out in the yard and look.  Like all Junk yards they get the highest price that they can, no real bargains but a lot of variety.

Pat,

Missed your question on prices on mirrors.  I did not notice prices, only that they had shelves with a dozen or more, some sets.  I was hunting a outside grab handle gasket, and replacement lighted plastic bar, and the white door bumper/keeper.  I had photos and it was an easy thing to show them exactly what I needed.

I plan to shoot photos of many more things on the coach and carry them on the IPhone for future part hunting.

Sorry Gerry for not replying sooner. Really got tied up. The problem with the mirrors was creative wiring. The problem on the air horns was a bad ground. I am still looking for the major grounding points on this 92 GV U225. I think grounds are the source of most of the problems I have encountered. Wish all a great New Year.
