Thought a pix when I stopped at Flyng J @ Latta SC, might answer a few questions, as they always say, a pix is worth a lot of typing.
Actual mph is 66, 1 over what is displayed
Merry Christmas
Dave, Looks like all you need now is your blood pressure, blood sugar level and anal temperture. :) :) :) :) :)
Gary B
Oh, and blood alcohol level. :) :) :)
Yup, I need to hot rod mine now...
My morning laugh. Thanks. :)
Craig
Oh yes!, do not care for that close monitoring via the VMSpc on my Blood Sugar & B.P. the anal just had the Doc's finger test, so it is what it is.
I am in no rush headed to the Bus nuts (Gear Head) rally (Convention) at Arcadia Fl. Have made many of these events, this one is the first since I got the new fangeled Foretravel. Many steps above the MCI games.
This trip is very easy, no rush, no fuss, so I have time to play with the overall operation to a deeper level. Not wanting to show just how far I am into this, I'll just say running the last 200 miles at 69-70 mph, was able to display max mpg of 10.4 over long period of time, and the actual was 9.1 mpg. I find this interesting, but there is not many areas of the USA that have the level road for so many miles as
I-95 south of Petersburg Va to present parking area at Hardeesville, SC. I-95 is a parking lot, so I found a truck stop.
The point of all this, Get a grip on how the ISM500 with resonator in the 36' coach will really do in real life.
The beauty of the Foretravel setup using the tire size, 3.91 rear gear, Allison 4000 with the 2 overdrive ratios, and of cource the Cummins ISM series, I feel this is as good as it could get for 2001, provides proper economy, real proper performance and is highly reliable, all the good stuff Foretravel uses as standard.
Not near the raw HP of the 12V-71, but not near the pain in the a$$ either nor as costly to keep running, best fuel mileage was 7.5mpg if I babied it, normal was 5.9.
Cheers & FWIW, Oh Yes, I am having fun too
Dave, you know the rules for drag racing, the more HP the more Fuel. ^.^d ^.^d
Hey, your right, but in this case, running down a flat non hilly interstate at 65-70 mph don't take much hp, think about 165 hp is shown as about normal, this is why I thought this would give me the very best numbers, now if I was headed to anywhere else the mpg would drop.
The big funny was when I had to drop the cruise control for traffic, when it cleared, I hit resume, WOW! big shock as I was only going about 58 mph, well the cruise went WOT, down shifted and off we went, not good for mpg info, but I smiled anyway.
You gotta laugh, I am just a gear head. Secondly, every time I drive past Yemessee SC, I get a special laugh, as I recall getting off the train there for PI University . ;D
SOunds like a fun trip. I will have to think long and hard on putting that set up on mine. I might just go to Richmond to do it as they have done it already.
Have a great time down there and give me a shout when you get back to VA. I will try to hold the weather off for you but I would bet we will have some white stuff by the time you start back.
