Title: Silverleaf
Post by: Jerry Steele on January 15, 2012, 02:05:50 am
What information could I expect to receive from VMSpc on my 1998 U320 M11- 450?  Silverleaf shows only round plugs and mine is flat.  Is my coach too old to benefit from a VMSpc?  I'm confused as usual.

You should definitely have one of the round plugs under the dash. Sometimes its pushed back a bit out of the way. My 95 has a rectangular plug, but you can hook up Silverleaf no matter which plug you have - you just have to splice wires or make some connectors.

Silverleaf VMSPC Engine Monitoring on Your Laptop (http://www.rvupgradestore.com/SilverLeaf-VMSPC-p/vmspc.htm)

You get the full range of engine monitoring. I'm not sure which year the trans monitoring was avail (it wasn't on mine, but its not a whole lot...). VMSpc | SilverLeaf Electronics, Inc. (http://www.silverleafelectronics.com/forum/23?q=node/6) You can set up whatever you want on your laptop... examples:
engine rpm
speed
torque
horsepower
mpg
miles to empty
engine hours
lifetime mileage
lifetime mpg
cruise 'on' and set speed
coolant and oil temps (with alarms) oil pressure (with alarm)
intake manifold temp
boost
retarder on/off

Jerry,
Never heard of a FLAT plug in for the data line.  Most all connections are located near your left knee, on side wall, under dash about 2' above floor.
and they are round as fas as I ever heard of.
Maybe someone else knows of a flat plug somewhere under the dash ??
Cheers

The flat plug is for the Allison Transmission ECM.

The plug on my 1996 U320 build 4943 is rectangular.
The Silverleaf folks will provide whatever plug you need, just phone them.
I visited their office in Oregon when I purchased mine.

Jerry, Wyatt is right. Call Silverlief and let them know what plug you have and they will give you the right adapter. Its a great product!

Thanks everyone.  This forum is a wealth of information.  I shall call silverleaf when I order the unit for the correct plug.
