Beside the Uline ice maker on older U280 and I suspect other older models is a 2 or 3 in wide door on a hinge.. When opened there are 2 stainless prongs or rods if you will that will pull out... Looks like a good place to hang a wet dish cloth but I think not.. Call me slow if you must and I will understand... but in doing so please tell me what the h this is..
We don't have that in ours, but it sounds like it might be for stowing the sink covers... Just a WAG:)

Could be... if so it doesn't work well... when I bought my rig one of the sink covers was down in behind that compartment and I was all one afternoon fishing it out with a stiff wire. I wont put one back in there.
When we had our '92 that door is where the sink cover fit like Don has suggested.

Sink covers and cutting board.
the pull out rods are to hang your dish towells on
My thanks for easing my curorisity.
In mine... it is a poor place for storing sink covers... at least while going down the road. Thanks for reply's.
You're supposed to place the sink covers on the sinks when going down the road!
Last time I saw mine a couple of years ago they under the couch.
Bbean...now, that be funny....same here
Better in place covering the sinks than lying on a counter top. If they are not secure, they could slide off the cabinet and break when they hit the wooden floor. :( Believe me, it could happen.
My sink covers are in the closet. I use the sink to store things when I am going down the road!
Closet is where mine are stored....
