Title: RHINOFLEX AND U225 HOOKUP
Post by: ROADSTAR04 on January 23, 2012, 11:58:45 am
Newbie needs more help. My 92 GV U225 drain pipe will not connect up to my new Rhinoflex drain system. The pipe flange connector on the drain is about 3/16" larger than any drain flange on the  hoses that I have tried to purchase. Is this normal for older GV's? How can i adapt mine so I can use the standard connections on the market. I did not find an adapter or new flange in my searches. Please Help. Have a great day.

Try
VALTERRA UNIVERSAL ADAPTER (http://www.tjtrailers.com/store/valterra-universal-adapter.html)

It sounds like you have a Thetford to Valterra mismatch... If so, you can use Amazon.com: Valterra T05-2285VP Thetford to Valterra Universal Adapter: (http://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T05-2285VP-Thetford-Universal-Adapter/dp/B0006N5S6C/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top), or you can cut the Thetford fitting off on the Foretravel and solvent weld on a Valterra termination fitting... That is what I did.

DEFINITELY add the third valve when you change the fitting. The adapters are OK for the short term ... but the third valve enables you to "back flush" your black tank with water from the grey during the emptying procedure, and also acts as insurance, should the other valves fail.  Changing from the Thetford valves makes life a LOT easier.

Just curious - my 91 U225 came with Valterra valves. Did they change to Thetford in 92? Or is this something a previous owner may have changed?

I'm pretty sure that a previous owner made the conversion. The larger more durable Thetford connector was used for many years but fittings are almost impossible to find. Just be glad the fitting had been changed.
