Title: Removing Kitchenaid Microwave U300
Post by: kenhat on February 07, 2012, 05:44:17 pm
I'm trying to figure out how to remove the Kitchenaid Microwave-Convection. I found one screw in the upper-left corner and 2 latches on the bottom rear but it's still hung up from what feels like the upper-right. I suspect another screw but can't find it. Anyone out there remove one of these?

Also if you have one can you give me the model number so I can look for a manual? The model number has been scrubbed off the label. :(

Any advise appreciated. I'm rather not have to use the crowbar!

Can post more pics if requested.

I can not see if that is a door to the right of the microwave, but if it is , believe that you will find a screw from inside the cabinet into the microwave. It will probably be in the 1 inch square wood at the bottom of the cabinet just above the floor.

Ken, the MW/Convection in my 93, U225 had a screws in both the right, center and left. The right and center screws came down from above through the cabinet trim in the front. The square screw heads were up in the front of the cabinet and the screw went down into the MW frame.

Open the tandor door to the right of the unit.
On my '96 there is a black plastic cover over the electric switches in the left front of the compartment next to the unit.
After removing the cover and unscrewing the switch panel to allow it to drop down I found the screw going laterally into the MW.

Thanks for the help everyone. Unfortunately after I read several other post that advised checking if the door would open I discovered in my case it wouldn't. Microwave next to the refrigerator, GE Advantium 120 equaled no go. :( The Advantium would have been a semi freebie. I bought it for the condo a few years ago and never got around to installing it. Would have been a nice upgrade for Big Agnes.

I've put everything back for now. Will figure something out down the road.
