Title: Shore Power Wiring
Post by: Jim Monk on February 22, 2012, 11:29:01 am
After searching forum and reading Barry Beam's site I think I understand how to wire up a shore power 50 amp plug for the coach. Even though when wired at the breaker box it is wired @ 220 volts the coach electrical system will separate it into two systems of 110 volts making it safe.  Is this right?
I do not want to fry something on the coach.
Thanks for any suggestions or help you can give me

Jim,

Assume you are wanting to know how to wire the shore power side/house outlet.

The two outer straights are the hots (L1 and L2).  The center straight is the neutral and the center round is the ground.

SO:

From either outer to either center= 120 VAC
From outer to outer= 240 VAC
From center straight to center round= 0

Each leg coming into the coach is 110 - 125vac .
One side feeds some of the breakers and the other side feeds the rest.
Going across the 2 legs will give you 220vac
