Title: Dash Mat Cover?
Post by: Steve & Kathy B on February 23, 2012, 09:59:00 am
Anyone have a dash mat cover from Dashboard Covers by Josie - Specializing in Dashboard Covers for Motorhomes! (http://www.coversbyjosie.com/index.html) or have another source?

We considered that, but opted to recover the dashboard.

When we got new Flexsteel captains chairs, we ordered enough extra Ultraleather to do the whole dash.

Looks a lot better than a cover.

We have never had a pet.  Those who do might be better off with a dash mat, as I have seen many pets that jump up on the dash. Not sure how Ultraleather would stand up to that.

I bought a remnant from the fabric department at Walmart that was wide enough and long enough that, when cut down the center into 2 pieces, can be artfully arranged to cover the dash from the glass to the sunscreen shade.  I think it cost me less than $4.00.  I bring it out when we are parked in one spot for more than a few days.  We also have no pets.  I have seen folks who cram the front of their coach with artificial flowers or stuffed animals ... not my style.

We have a dash mat from Josie and like it very much.  Having a chewing cat made it a necessity.  It was over-priced I thought but was of good material and fit well.

Any chance you post a picture of it? We have a cat who will be along for the ride whether she likes it or not:)...

Made a pattern w/ news paper. Transfered it to thicker brown paper. checked and made a few adjustments. Transfered to back of rug remnant from local rug store. (Not hair piece store.) Cit w razor blade etc. Placed onto dash. At first I was disappointed the aft edge did not curl around edge of leatherette dash ridge but after one season, the rug looks as if molded to dash. Could have had edge bound but have not found that necessary.

Does anyone have one of those Dash Mat Covers by Josie? If so, could you please post a pic of how it looks? We're thinking of ordering one...

Thanks!

Got one they said would fit a 2001 and did not.  Easily returned.  Looked well made but clearly not for a 2001 dash so if you have dash on 1999 that is same as 2001, guess not work.  Still, call and see.

Here are a couple of pictures of a dash cover made by Josie six years ago for my '99. One thing to note, it did not come with the holes for the defroster vents. When asked they said the air would just blow through. Not so. DW cut and sewed the openings.

Thanks Bob! Looks like the mat doesn't extend over the edge of the dash so it won't work for us...I can just see the cat scrambling up and puncturing the vinyl all along the part the mat doesn't cover.

I think I will need to make my own as Michelle suggests...I was trying to save myself some work and hopefully get a nice professional looking product. *SIGH*

Don, judging from the photos I have seen of your work, I can't believe that you would do anything that didn't look professionally done when you were through.
