We had been looking for some reading lights to replace the "brothel lamps" in our FT. The big RV store had some that used a 12-volt conventional bulb that were OK, but I was put-off by the $70-something each they were asking. I had fashioned some gooseneck lamps onto the old bases, but found something better.
After a lot of searching for what I wanted, I found these lamps at Lowe's last week, item #352588. I think they are a new item. They are $24.97 each, are LED, have switches on the base, and are 120-volt power. The cool thing is they use a plug-in transformer that supplies 12-volt DC!
I took off the backs, snipped the wires that go to the transformer plug, reattached the backs, connected the wires to the supply wires in the wall, attached to the wall and done. Probably fifteen minutes total.
I had a bit of concern about the voltage. The transformer supplies 12.4, and the wall wires supply 13.4. I left one on for several hours with no problems.

Matt,
Be sure to verify the voltage tolerance of the LED's. Some may not like your charger on bulk rate of 14+ or from the alternator at 14+.
Nice. Those lamps look a lot better than the "brothel lamps" (good description) I thought the same of the headboard, which is why I had it recovered. ;D I was also put off by $70 to $100 prices on replacement fixtures.
As to fluctuating voltages, you could always connect a 12 volt zener diode across the power wires to keep the voltage steady.
