Installed new Speedometer purchased for a great deal on Ebay.

VDO SPEEDOMETER 85MPH GAUGE #437-152 GREAT PRICE ! | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VDO-SPEEDOMETER-85MPH-GAUGE-437-152-GREAT-PRICE-/180695985106?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2a1251ebd2)

Had the odometer set at Lauderdale Speedometer. Great service from them. Got it back the next day after they received it from me.

Mark,
Does the speedo documentation provide the pulse code for the speedo for your installation.  The pulse code sets the correct speed readout.

I was wondering about this also.  Appears VDO has some pretty good support.  Here's calibration description:

Call James Triana at the factory and he will give you the pulse code for your coach, there are 2 different codes depending on your tire size.

OK Forum Guru types...my vintage 2002 VDO electronic speedometer has a sealed case which makes internal access almost impossible due to the crimped-on bezel. In my situation, the odometer only has lost it's display function. Undoubtedly I could repair that if I could open the case without ruining it.

Also, does anyone know how these odometers are reset to a desired mileage? I'm guessing by a series of electronic signals. Yes, I know, send it to to the people who do this...but curious minds want to know. I do love a challenge.

You can do it forward, but not reverse, with a pulse generator. You can speed up the process by setting to a low pulse rate on speedo first.  It would probably be possible to do it with the sound card output from a computer, using a frequency generator program.  Consider yourself challenged.

Thanks, Chuck. The speedometer dial must peg-out while doing this plus it must take a long time to advance the odometer very far. Or are the speedometer and odometer circuits separated on the rear pin-out connections?

Regarding the pulse code on mine. I just set it to the same as the old one. Also here is the speedometer calibration instructions. That is if I am able to upload them here. I thought about buying a cheap pulse generator to set my new one but decided not to. The speedometer shop set mine in less than an hour so they must have an easy way to do it.

Speedo shops should be able to deal with the old bezel and new bezel ring.  I once had to have installed a special background set of dollar signs on the face, plus an E, and a F, for a bank commercial.

Ah, thanks for the interesting reading material about VDO speedometers. This will keep me busy for awhile!
