Title: 2001 AND A GLASS DASH
Post by: John S on April 12, 2012, 03:30:10 pm
Well, I am considering a Glass Dash.  They do not make the gauges anymore for the 01 model year.  I fear when I lose the next gauge that I will be doing that. Anyone else do this yet on any model year?  IF so, are you happy with it?

John Christman, where are you?

John, I think John Christman in Or. had a 01 and had all the Glass Dash options, I talked with him and nearly had them fly into my area, spend 2-3 days installing the Glass Dash, but before that happened I wound up with the Xtreme paint job, so am still considering the Glass Dash maybe this year or next, still open.  Price quoted in the range of $10 to 13 K depending on air, hotel, car rental & chow expenses.
The good part, they have it all worked out due to John Christman's setup, he took his to the shop in Or.
Not sure how close to brothers new Phenix Glass Dash, that is a very fancy dash, most any color, location or display you can imagine. Seems there is no limit to the video that can be displayed.
Next would be the FLIR and / or Air Cam.
Interesting

See if you and John could get a 'co-located' discount!

John, I guess in your 2001 you have Stewart Warner gauges (I do)?  It appeared that I needed one, I think for air pressure, and was told that one could be obtained.  It developed that there was a sender problem, but I feel pretty sure I was told that they could get the gauge.  Mike

You might swap the wires to the tank sending units to see if your gauge(s) are faulty or not.

The Silverleaf glass dash is one sharp unit.  Analog gauges work well also.

While I have been envious of you guys that live near Nac, the only thing I can brag about is that SilverLeaf Electronics is only 4-1/2 miles from my house. I have stopped in there once and met Dave Kemper the service director. While a glass dash would be nice, the carpet and tile flooring that my wife wants seems to be a higher priority right now.

Sorry Guys,

I've been a bit pre-occupied the past month or spending 2+ hours in a "Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber" five days a week.  These treatments are indeed working as they are helping with the healing of wounds & infections from unexplained sources on both my legs.  The one on my left heel has been completely healed as of this last Tuesday.  One thing I dare say about this therapy is that it alone, may very well become the sole source of the "Medicare Bankruptcy Act."

John S. did you forget that I had installed the Glass Dash in my 2002 U320?  To address your question...I loved mine so much that I wasn't willing to part with it, which caused me to drag my feet in selling my coach.  I've said this before, but the person who gets my coach, will be totally blown away with all the extra features that I added to that service.  I know a lot of people seem really happy with their computer/$395 Silverleaf software package...but once you have experienced the Glass Dash, with all its settings and features along with the 7 inch color VMS-440 with all the features and EXTRAS that I added, you and only you (that person) will be wondering why you ever had to put up with those standard analog gauges that our coaches were built with.  Click on this link, if you want to see the photos (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?action=media;sa=album;in=178) I posted almost two years ago of just some of the various screens that can be viewed...btw, I added a few more goodies since those photos were taken...got any specific questions?  Best to send me a PM as it may be another 1-2 months before I get back here again...like I said I've got that many more treatments to go.  I'm afraid the Medicare Bankruptcy Act may begin to feel the effects of these treatments!!!

Thanks Chad for letting me know about this post!  Ronb--I don't mean to be rude, just making a minor correction.  Dale Kemper who I think you are referring to is the General Manager of Silverleaf.  Perhaps if you talk nice to him, he will cut you some of the deals that he & Martin gave me (since I was their "go-to" Foretravel tester. :))
