Today, I noticed an odor when I turn on the water at the sinks. Thought the traps may need some water but did't help. Just put some bleach into each trap. After breakfast I may put some bleach into the fresh water tank and drain.
I am on not using the house water and the smell is from the camp water or something in the waterline of the coach. Any ideas?? DAN

Hi Dan. I imagine you have disconnected and tried just the camp water? Maybe that area you are camping has some sulfur in the water supply? Mike
Dan,
Need to isolate source of smell-- potable water or P traps/drains.
If potable water, yes, sanitize the tank. If just when using hot water, drain and flush (or "vacuum") out the crud in the bottom of the water heater.
If gray water tank source of odor, I prefer hydrogen peroxide to bleach-- much easier on tank valves and just as effective at killing and eating "crud". Also check the under-sink check valves as source of odor.
Brett tks good advice will do.DAN
I also like hydrogen peroxide. You can buy it in gallons at any of the grow stores in a 30% concentration. Not quite rocket fuel strength but it really eats anything organic. With the formula of H2O2 and it's inherent instability, it breaks down into water and oxygen in a day or so but not until it has done it's job. Read the instruction label before using.
It makes rubber flip-flops (shoes) that have grown mold like new again. You can watch it work.

Thanks to all; I have been using bleach for years. It is messy and time consuming.
Where do you get the 30% hydrogen peroxide solution?
I checked the drug stores and all they have is 3%
How much do you use?
Eric
ERic, I checked Google and it lists some options, even suggesting Home Depot and Lowes. But health food stores are said to carry it, and hair saloons, some drug stores, and then I saw this site as well. You may way to read the notices regarding handling of hydrogen peroxide, which I think show at this site as well.
