OK, Since I have been told that I am too stupid to screw on a pressure pro, and having leaking issues, I ordered the NEW kit of seals with tool.
Now the question is;  The new seals are larger diameter, needing pushed down the threaded area and with the tool the seal looks perfectly centered.
Question, the origional seals being smaller and not fitting snugly in the seat area might have affected the centering of the seal causing the leaking.
SO I need to hear from you Geeks, Groupies & Techies or who ever with an opinion or factual experience.
I have not installed any sensors since getting the "Kit", just wondering.

Hi Dave,

Either size red seal should work because they normally self-center unless they are crooked. Also, they might now sell the larger size so they don't fall out or stick to the valve stem when removing the sensor.

Thanks Jim, I have not seen a red seal, I was just surprised the difference in size and how it fits securely in the sensor vs the origional, loose floppy seal.  Maybe one day Pressure Pro engineers (if they actually have one) will stumble on a design that works well, here is hoping.

I'm guessing our sensors all have the newer seal because we didn't detect any looseness.  Is there any way you can post a photo the old style for comparison?  You can see ours here in the photo Steve took through a jeweler's loupe (click to expand):



We just installed ours on Thursday morning so not much time to evaluate, but no air loss whatsoever while in storage or the short ride from there to Inland and back the next day.  Same for the car.

Did I read somewhere that FT "helped" PressurePro determine they needed the new seal design due to slow air leaks?

As for  Foretravel and P-P,  I was told that when FOT went to using the P-P, they had a big issue with leaks, the opinion (not mine) was that P-P had then reengineered the seal or what ever, origionally, a O ring was thought to have been installed, but appearantly it was a new seal device in the bottom.  Point is, now FOT does not appear to have any issue with leaking, Maybe their men are smart enough to screw them on right. ?
What got my dander up was when I was informed I must be too stupid to screw the sensor on the valve stem.  My point all along was  simply, "If they had a proper engineered device, the leaking would not be an issue."
Once i make correct tire pressures, will install and see what gives.
Here is hoping.

I've had the PP sensors on a couple of RV's and cars and once I had a sensor that just wouldn't stop leaking.  Don't know if was the valve stem or the sensor at first.  I called PP and they sent me a new one. No problems since.  Maybe you just have one bad sensor, or do they all leak air?

A pix will not be able to show the difference in size, however the old seal is .015-.016 smaller diameter, that is enough to provide a good snug fit in the sensor, using the tool, the new seal looks perfectly centered and not loose, so am hoping for a successful installation. (Hope I am not too stupid to screw it on)

I obtained all of my Pressure Pro stuff from a guy who apparently got tired of dealing with various problems and gave all of it to me.  I have about 20 or so sensors and most of them have a red insert.  A few of the sensors have a small BLACK insert (which occasionally fall out and get lost) that is much smaller than the NEW current black inserts.
Since I now understand that the inserts fall out, I am much more careful when moving them from vehicle to vehicle (trailer to towed and back) so I don't lose them.  Since that realization I have had no failures or leaking.
I would like a method to determine what the battery voltage is in the various sensors prior to getting a failure from a failed battery.
I did get a special tool and ten inserts and have not needed to use either, YET.

Jinxed myself.  Checked the pressures on the readout when Steve got here from Inland today - one tag tire was a few PSI lower than expected given it had just been driven on.  Sure enough, a check with soapy water produced a little bubbling from the connection.  Pulled the sensor and one edge of the seal looked "lifted".  Steve has attempted to re-seat it, we have added air, reinstalled the sensor, no bubbles at present.  We'll watch it closely.

In the 3 plus years we had our coach, the Pressure Pro system was a constant source of problems.  I received the worst customer service from the home office (not from the McFalls who are great people).  I think the product should be renamed to Leak Pros.
