Title: FMCA Advantage program tax question
Post by: Lon and Cheryl on June 21, 2012, 07:44:19 pm
When buying tires on the Michelin Advantage program who collects the sales tax?
Does it get charged to the credit card by Michelin since your buying direct from them?
Or does the dealer charge you.
The dealers don't seem to include sales tax in the price just  just FET in the price.

In our experience the dealer submits the entire invoice to Michelin and you are charged once, by Michelin.  There will be tires, FET, mount, balance and valve stems if you ask for them, and sales taxes.  The mount, balance, stems, and sales taxes are pass-thru from the dealer and are at whatever the dealer charges.  Tires and FET will be on the Michelin advantage program rate.

Good evening,
I purchased 6 tires from Michelin several months ago.  The dealer charged me for the installation and labor and I paid that separately.  Michelin, on their invoice, charged me for the 6 tires, tire excise tax,  State tax, county tax and local tax. That upped the cost by almost $500 but it was still cheaper than paying the full tire price.  The taxes and installation and labor would have been about the same if not using the FMCA program.  Also I used a dealer in our home town which I think is a good thing to do.  They did a good job.
Good luck.
