Title: Chairs
Post by: philtravel on June 26, 2012, 06:44:27 pm
We just received our Kermit Chairs. Fairly expensive but I think we will be pleased with them. I have been struggling with the typical chairs from Camping World and such. They take up LOTS of room in the storage bays or the toad. I have seen the Kermit chairs for years on the motorcycle scene and admired there quality and compactness. We are going to leave the big chairs home and bring the kermit chairs and two folding wood dinning chairs (for use with the leaf in place inside or outside for extra seating. This will save us lots of space and some weight.

How many people bring "full sized" chairs or extra chairs for guests? Any one using the Kermit chairs?

Oh my! Those Kermit chairs *are* spendy... $140 for the chair, another $40 for "leg extensions" and $10 for a cup holder. Whew!

We carry two "Director's Chairs" we bought at Big 5. Mine is taller than normal because I have a hard time getting out of short chairs (and those bendy $10 folding chairs are impossible) and has a fold-out side table for food and a cup holder... plus another fold-out mini-cooler. $44.

Sue has a standard version for $25.

We do carry a couple extras for guests. Some previous owner installed a huge (6'x4') storage pod on top of our rig and that's where we put the chairs. We put a table in a basement bin.

I'm thinking of adding one of those folding recliners, however. :D

Got a couple of GCI Freestyle Rockers for Father's day.  Smooth, comfortable, easy to open and close. Folds flat for storage.

I have a rocker recliner inside the coach and now can rock outside by the campfire!

I bought two Zipdee chairs. Fold compactly, but expensive. Use them with dining table for guests when pulling out table extension and outside. Our recliners were heavy and took up lots of room. Wife not convinced. Keep two bag chairs in toad. Zipdee chairs go vertical on side in pass through storage using very little space.

Found 4 zipdee chairs at yard sales all the same color. They fit in a prebuilt storage in the bay that must have been made for zipdees. Got all for $130.

We are fans of Strongback chairs and Coleman director chairs with side tables attached.

Strongback more comfortable, Directors chair the side table is great.

These seemed like a good, comfy idea, until we oldsters went to get out of them! :headwall:
