Here is the picture of the brake part that has been "hanging up" on me for some time, the pic with the grease fitting on top about 1 oclock.
IS THIS THE PART IN THE FRONT AND BACK THAT REQUIRES THE SPECIAL CLAY BASED GREASE?
I have been waiting for the correct lube to come to my mechanic but for some reason it doesn't show. He's called 3 times. I may just have to call FT and order it.
And the part that is supposed to slide freely on top and bottom of the disc assembly could use some lubrication. Part of it is in the other picture...I am wondering if care was taken to not get any overspray on the brake or the disc, could I spray some corrosion X in the slider supports with hopes of loosening them up and NOT having to completely taking them apart
If the pin goes in that far (flush) I think it is time for new brake pads.
You really need to get into the manual for these brakes so you can service them correctly.
It looks like they may need a lot of attention.
I also have a brake issue I started to work on. Before I began I ordered the correct clay based grease for the caliper assembly.
I found it on line at a place called SKY-GEEK. They sell mostly to Aviation people. I bought 2 tubes of AeroShell #7 (14oz tube) ML-PRF-23827C. It cost $11 a tube and Sky-Geek sent got it to me in about 2 days normal shipping (New York to Chicago) for a very reasonable S&H fee.
Maybe buy the correct grease and give it to your mechanic to use.
I think John is right about your pads. The attachment below is from newer documention but I think it still applies to our vintage coach.
Here's info I recorded when I did my fronts in '07 (I pretty sure we have the same brakes):

BTW, If I remember correctly the pins are not supposed to be lubed, but are supposed to slide freely.
Thanks you guys for pointing out that I need new brakes. I do know that and it is on my list. Actually they will come before the air bag replacement. I did not know that the slide pins were actually indicators for wear. That is great to know. For now I'm just trying to get things cleaned up and work on what I can when I can. it will all get done this season. I think there is a lot of stuff in my 3 owners manuals that I can get rid of to make things more simple for me. Previous owners just kept cramming stuff in them without removing what was old, out dated and not needed. I wouldn't get rid of things I know nothing about and I do know that all the information for brakes etc is in there too.
