Title: Transfer switch
Post by: Dean & Dee on July 05, 2012, 01:59:59 pm
I am working on the installation of my Progressive HW50c. Can anyone tell me the trick to removing the #6 shore power wires from the transfer switch. There appears to be holes in line with the wires but the fastener is not hex or anything else in my toolbox. The plastic cover looks like it might pop off but I don't want to break it.

Steve says it is hex. One required a little wiggling to get the allen wrench to seat.

Feel free to call my cell if you need more info :)

And it's the 3 deeper holes that are in the body of the relay, not the 3 holes further out that have a silver-headed fastener visible.

Well it looked like it could be hex but I have tried the three sets that I have and none seem to work. I will have to dig into the misc. collection and see if i can find the right one. I may take you up on the cell call as I have a couple other questions.

Yes, I see it's the inner holes. I just unhooked the outer wires for access.
            Thanks, Dean

Steve just checked - 5/32nds hex works, although being Siemens (German) it's probably 4mm metric.

Steve, i just figured out whats up with the upper relay wire fasteners. Some bone head previously had tried to use the wrong size Hex head or a torx and partially stripped the heads. I managed to get the hex into two of them and I think I can get the last one as well.

I think I will take a beer break and think about which side I want to tie into.  Maybe sitting on the beach looking at the lake it will come to me. :))
Thanks again for your help and info.
