Has anyone ever mounted a ceiling fan over the bed? Is there anything to hang it on or secure it to in the ceiling area? ??? I have a 1994 U300 THANKS

Hi Gerry,
In my 2002 the bedroom ceiling fan was mounted to a recessed electrical box in a factory installed certain location...roughly in the middle of the ceiling. The power was not present in that box so it was run from behind the dresser drawers. I would suggest you call James Triana to determine the exact location of the ceiling electrical box for your coach so that you don't miss where it is.

Why not put a fan in the corner of the bedroom instead of using a head banger over the bed?

Hella fans are 12V, two-speed, less than 8" diameter overall, and they swivel vertically and horizontally (and lock into position). While they are available through the Amazon link shown in George's post last year, we found a better price through Defender Marine online (where we bought them for our previous sailboats!): Turbo 2-Speed Fan (http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|6880|8130&id=1558086)

Wow! The Hela fans are really pricey. I found (with help from Kent Speers) a fan at Academy Sporting Goods, that is 12V, is magnetized on the bottom and has 2 speeds. You can use it with a metal plate that allows the magnet to stick or a battery pack that will let you take it outdoors for use in a canopy, I guess. I stuck the metal mounting plate on the small vanity "shelf" in the corner of the bedroom with UGlue ... not wanting to put screw holes in the vinyl headliner or the wood cabinetry. I use a 12V adapter in the plug in there. And we bought it for the low low price of $19.95.

We use Hella fans as well mounted as George Patricia did. Yes, pricy, but we have some on the boat with over 8000 hours of use. And, they are much quieter than most.

The fan Carol is talking about is an O2 Cool, Tent Fan. It is available at Accademy Sporting Goods and Target on line. Academy has the best price, Academy - O2 COOL® 10" Portable Canopy/Tent Fan (http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_26623_-1?N=129184653).
The thing I like about it is that it has multiple mounting possibilities and it is quiet. It can be run off of a plugin conveter, $2.99 on ebay or 12V. I mounted the plate right to the ceiling. The fan hangs by a magnet when in use and can be stowed just by unplugging it pulling it down. You also get an D Cell powered auxiliary battery back that provides 12V DC for many uses.

We use a small 110V Fan that sits on the little dressing table in the BR. It will run for many hours on the inverter. I don't know where DW got it, probably an ALDI or TARGET product made somewhere in Asia.

Our bedroom ceiling fan is OE and is wonderful. Quiet and effective, mostly run on low. I guess our bedroom antics aren't as energetic as others, as head banging has never been a problem.

I think our ceiling fan is OE also. The "personal injury hazard" is from banging hands while moving a garment over the head. I have (mostly) learned to be very careful taking off t-shirts near the foot of the bed.
The fan is very noisy on the old square wave inverter. It's fairly quiet on shore or generator power. I expect one or two of the Hella fans might do a better job moving air around the room.
The Vornado Flip Fan is a nice portable 120VAC fan for use in the coach.
