Replaced the two Valterra refrigerator heat exchanger fans that I installed last September. Not sure why they quit working. There is a thermal switch on each fan, but bypassing it didn't help. It appears to be the motor. It is a rather hostile environment, but I would think they would last longer than 11 months and they were off at least 5 months of that time. The wiring was fine, so I just spliced in a couple more fans.
George, ours did the same thing. Both fans lasted about a year. I'm pretty disappointed. Did you replace the whole thing or did you find replacement motors?
Kent.... I installed the same Valterra fans. Only difference is that they were more expensive than the last time we bought them. But I found two in Las Cruces, NM on a Saturday, so I considered myself lucky. They seem to be working fine. But I would like to get a new fan brand that would be more durable. I talked to a guy here at Camp Foretravel and he had two computer fans mounted just inside the side vent on his refrigerator. It is a lot cooler down there, but I doubt they are as effective as the top mounted fans. So if you find something better, please let me know.
As an aside, Camp Foretravel is filling up again. Yesterday we were the only ones here, now there are 6 more coaches. Tomorrow we go to Xtreme to get roof paint and a few minor dings fixed. Then off to Asheville by the end of the week.
If you want quite fans, go to www. quitepcusa.com and look at the 120 mm fans in the 35cfm range, these seem to work best
at removing heat,to many cfm it will no absorb enough heat,to small a cfm and not enough heat removed,I installed the Amish cooling unit and the 2 120mm 35cfm fans under the roof cap, with a White Rogers 3f11-120 close on rise therm disc mounted on the heat exchanger tube, this setup has worked well for me.
Bill... do you have any pics of your fan installation?
Yes I do,but I have no idea how to get them out of my album and post them to the board, maybe Steve can help,as you can see I am not a computer guru.
