Title: Peninsula Windows also fixes Creation type sqiggles with new glass
Post by: Barry & Cindy on July 25, 2012, 11:38:57 pm
We had a pleasant & informative experience with Peninsula Glass / Motion Window at their manufacturing facility in Vancouver Washington,  just across the Columbia River from Portland Oregon.

We installed new Peninsula dual-pane tinted windows when we painted our coach last year.  We like the way the windows slide & lock and the light grey tint is a nice update.

Some of our screens were a little tight and Peninsula Sales Director Jeff Kemp was pleased to make all needed adjustments, while we were in the Vancouver area.

While we were at their shop, we learned that Peninsula also repairs original Creation sqiggle type problems.  Peninsula replaces damaged glass with new tinted dual pane glass that use a metal spacer.

They reuse the frames?  Jeff never mentioned that option when I talked to him last week.

Do I understand what he told you?

Yes Bob, Peninsula re-uses your original Creation window frames if that is what you want them to do.

Some other shops try to re-use the glass and if they cannot clean it up, they then charge more for new glass. And metal spacers are required to prevent the return of the problem squiggles.

Peninsula's web site has a good write-up on why the squiggles happen and how to work with Peninsula to get your problems revolves.

Seems recycling the creation frames saves about 30 percent.  Ok good info

Barry;

Your post could hardly be more timely for us; we're headed toward North WA in a few days, and can quite easily route through Vancouver in both directions. Kudos for the knowledge AND timing!! (This is two I owe you; the first being the loan of the RF connector in Durango.)

Please post what if any actions you took.  Jeff thought the difference was small enough to warrant buying the new windows but that's easier for him.  He sure talked up the bronze solar tinted glass.  Water spots were always a problem.  Plus the brown color?

I called and made a tentative appointment to repair (using the existing frame) three of our windows that exhibit seal creep. I'll post an update in a few weeks.

We don't like window glass tints that change the world we look out at, and after all we are not always in hot & sunny places. We chose light gray inside and outside glass and are quite happy with it. I don't care for mirroring or dark glass.

While we were not aware of the option to just replace our Creation glass, we are happy to have new windows with new frames, locks, & screens. Also one of the benefits of Peninsula's design is that if one breaks a window, the frame does not have to come off to replace a piece of glass. And their customer service is awesome.

Glad our posting was helpful, Chad.

Interesting as I mentioned I did not like the color change bronze tint would give
