Does anyone have a clue were to get the electronic throttle control serviced? The company that made it sure doesn't.
Thanks

Tom, can you tell us the problem you are having,it could also be the engine control unit.

Its the cruise control part of it. It won't activate, set or resume.

I can't find a fuse, I did replace the relay, but that didn't help
Thanks

This may be a stupid question but the Allison retarder switch and joy stick are not on are they, as if so it may override the cruise as mine does!!

My cruise control worked when the retarder was switched on, but didn't come into play until I let the throttle close.
I did try the cruise with the retarder off, but it still wouldn't engage.
Thanks for the hint.

Tom, if you can drive the coach, the throttle is working,if not it could be the ECU, I think you will find the problem with Cruise Control to be in the Smart Wheel or the Smart Wheel control.

I am confused, am I to understand that the cruise control can not be used when the transmission retarder switch is turned on?

I thought that the retarder was disengaged when the cruise control was on not the other way around. With my Jake Brake retarder, the Jake is turned inactive as long as the cruise control is engaged. That way I can coast down hill reducing fuel consumption. As soon as the service brake is touched, the cruise turns off and the retarder is reengaged helping to slow the coach down. It doesn't make sense to me that you can't use the cruise control when the transmission retarder switch is in the on position.

Kent,

My experience with cruise control and retarder interaction is described here: No Brake Lights (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=15543.msg98408#msg98408). The thread also contains experiences from other folk.

We run with the retarder switch on all the time, unless road conditions dictate that it be turned off. We also engage cruise control most of the time. The functions work fine together. We normally leave the joy stick on the "Off" position. The retarder engages with the service brake. We use the joy stick for special circumstances, such as a long steep descent.

Our retarder workers just like JD said. I set it for 65 and it works fine...until...what the heck we're slowing down! Oh yeah, I used the retarder and forgot to set the joy stick off; cruise closed the throttle on that little down grade and engaged the retarder which turns the cruise off. Darn it will I ever learn??? :headwall:

Dick, a switch can be put in to optionally not turn on brake lights with retard, which will prevent cruise from turning off on that little down grade.

Well I'll be. Is that described somewhere on the forum?

There was a discussion of the issue here:
