Title: how do you drain coolent from PowerTech genny radiator? GOT ANSWER
Post by: Larry Rubin on August 12, 2012, 12:30:13 pm
After reviewing all the great info in the "How we replaced our anti-freeze coolant" thread, I only have one question.  What is the procedure for draining the coolent from the PowerTech genny radiator?

Specifically, what do the two ball valves do that are on the side of the large reservoir tank?  I see the sign to leave them up (i.e. closed) during normal operation, but not sure how to position them for flusing and refilling the tank.  (I assume, of course, you open them, but don't know the steps to take.)

Larry

ADDED:  the hose with the valves are used to purge air from the the resevoir - the tech doing the service traced the lines

Try this as a starting point.
Flush and Fill Generator Cooling System (http://www.beamalarm.com/Documents/flush_and_fill_generator_cooling_system.html)

Where can you dispose of coolant? Is ethylene disposed of differently than propylene?
And do you have to handle that Fleetguard cleaning stuff toxic?
Thanks

Thanks Barry - great info as always.  Still not sure about the use of the ball valves and how they come into play with draining.  Should I assume just open them to drain and close to run?
