I have a Girard 2000 awning. The motor runs but it sounds like gears are striped. The gears are most likely nylon. Have any of you folks changed out the motor and if so, are there any tricks to the removal and installation of the new motor? Has any one found a different source to buy the motor. Girard quoted me a price of $600 plus fright for just the motor. WOW
Thank You Karl
Karl,
I can't help on the motor (you could always call FOT, MOT, and Xtreme to see if they have a used Girard that's been parted out), but here's the awning installation/service/repair manual if you don't have it.

Michelle
Where are you located? I live in Florida and have a girard awning that has a good motor. It is located on the right hand side of the awning. If interested let me know. Ron
Hi Ron,
Yes, I would be interested. I am currently in North Carolina. I haven't taken the old motor out yet. It sounds like the gears are striped. Do you know if these motors are rebuildable?
Thanks for the reply. Karl
I don't think they are rebuildable, but have never taken one apart.
HI Ron. I took some Pictures of the model number. It dose not look like it is rebuildable. That's nothing new. I am interested in you motor. Thank you Karl

Right now I am in Nebraska, but should be home by Sept. 7 then will have to remove it from the awning. Ron
Thank You, Michelle
Ron, Thanks for the reply. I well keep you posted. Karl
