Received my new awning from ZipDee yesterday. Today will be dedicated to the installation. I'll send pics on the installation procedure when I'm finished.
If its a manual Zip Dee, just be VERY CAREFUL during disassembly. The spring tension on the arms has broken an number of arms and caused a couple of concussions according to Zip Dee. It requires two people. If I remember correctly, remove the front arm first while one person holds the spring loaded arm and holds up the roller assembly. Then very carefully pull off the slide arm then unwind the spring tension off of the short arm by a controlled counter clockwise motion. Count the number of revolutions to unwind for use during reassembly.
Brian, To echo Kent, Installing and WINDING the tension spring is a two man job, PLEASE read the instructions fully and understand that the spring can hurt you badly, don't ask how I and the DW know.

Well..after five hours of working in the hot sun, the new awning is installed..and working properly. No problems were experienced. As for the winding, I put the rear end of the awning on my shoulder while Jennifer gave the arm 20 revolutions. As Gary said, one must read the instructions before attempting the install...and them read them a few more times before beginning! Kent, no need to worry about removing the old awning, as is came off in gale force winds two months back. ;D
Very nice job. One would assume that the last photograph is the application of the redneck lubrication?
Aspenpilot just flat gets it done when it comes to working on his coach. This guy sets speed records for clean work.
I was noting the front sun screen in one of your pictures. I don't see any snaps on it, can you tell me how it works. Is it something you built or premade?
Chuck
Nicely done. I had replaced the awning on my SOB motorhome and know that it can be a tricky project. Like you said, reading instructions and thinking it through first are very important.

Might be a Magna Shade. You can check them out at Magne Shade - Home (http://www.magneshade.com/). Easy on and off after the initial installation.
