FT Kodak, TN replaced all my under-counter rope lights under warranty in 2003 due to many bulb burnouts. They secured the replacement ropes by a messy smearing of some silicone gook in the groove under the lip of the counters throughout the salon lamp table, kitchen sink counter, bar counter, and in the bathroom sink counter. Not long after that, the bulbs slowly began to burn out continuously in random spots along the entire rope light system. Has anyone had similar experience with these? OK, it's been 9 years but the burn out started around 2005 or so. Is there a replacement rope light product that can be recommended?
Not sure what your rope lights look like but if hidden, why not replace with LED strips? Inexpensive, low current draw, several colors or user changeable colors, adhesive backing, available with or without clear silicone cover and 12 volts. Lots of options. Do search in ebay for LED strips.

I bought some rope light from Defender Marine to put in our SOB coach. I can't say how it held up because we sold the coach immediately after I installed the lighting, but I was satisfied with the appearance of the materials I installed. I would buy from them again.

I agree with Pierce and do not use anything now unless it is LED

Search Walmart in the Auto and Tires classification for CIPA EVO Formance 15" LED Ultrabrights, White. They are $14 and (I think) must be ordered for "shipped to the store". Walmart stores usually carry the light in BLUE, if you want to see what the white strips would look like.
Try this: CIPA EVO Formance 15" LED Ultrabrights, White: Automotive : Walmart.com (http://www.walmart.com/ip/CIPA-EVO-Formance-15-LED-Ultrabrights-White/17806030)
