Title: great service at Foretravel of Texas
Post by: red tractor on September 11, 2012, 08:17:50 pm
We had our 2003 u320 at Foretravel of Texas in Julu of this year for rather extensive repair. Billy Jack got right on the estimate and ordering parts and then coordinating the repairs so that we could keep a rather important appointment. The fiberglass shop got us in and in 2 days completed their work, then off to the paint shop and they got us done there in 2 days. We then went to the service bays and the guys there were very friendly and really knew what they were doing as they installed the numerous parts to complete the repair. It was like watching an orchestra in motion. They did not throw us out even when Nancy climbed the workers ladder beside the coach to check out the roof. We highly recommend them for repairing your Foretravel. Ron and Nancy Riensche

We always enjoy going to Foretravel. The service is great and the wealth of information from those in the parking lot is priceless

I had service done in July also and I was very unimpressed with the quality of the work. Bolts were left missing and loose. Hwh harness is a mess. The genset radiator repair failed the first trip to Dallas. Came back again and it failed again in Wisconsin. They shipped a radiator to me but would not pay for the repair cost unless I came all the way back to Texas. I know that there are many happy customers on here but I did not have a happy experience on my first visit. Really messed up my traveling plans.

Regards, Mark

I am one of the happy campers with the FOT quality and pricing, having work done in their shop.  No reason not to go back, I also like MOT and Xtreme for their respective expertise.

I like most any shop that I can talk directly to the man doing the work so he and I understand what is expected and desired, I have found leaving it up to a non interested distant person usually gives very unhappy results.

And sometimes a good mechanic can screw it up by accident, but will solve the issue when faced with it.  The best of the best in that regard would be Xtreme, one of their body men screwed up, and Xtreme bent way over backwards to solve the issue 100%

I've had work done several times at FOT and have never been disappointed.  The price has been fair and never did I feel that I was paying for a learning curve.. The modest labor rate combined with the Superior knowledge keeps the final bill reasonable.

I have had both good and bad at FOT.  To me it is how they handle the bad that makes the difference.  If you talk to Cory, he would make it right. Also, I had friends who brought their coach there for service and they told Alton not to just rig it and to fix it this time. He was upset that they would say that and they said ok you want to see, so they showed him all the previous repairs that were done and how they were done.  Well, to their credit, Alton had them all fixed for them properly.  I think the post on here abut the generator wire arcing and shorting out on the breaker and they fixed the one wire on one breaker and nto the one next to it speaks volumes.  A good mechanic would have fixed both or at least told the owner and had them decide.  THere is always room for improvement but they have stepped up a great deal over the last few years.  David Flanigan's shop is first rate no question about it.

I don't think we have ever had a "bad" experience at FOT.  We have had excellent, good and slightly less than good ... but when ever we raised an issue it was corrected in a very prompt and reasonable manner and we left very satisfied.  I don't expect ANY mechanic to be perfect.  You don't hit a home run every time at bat.  But I will echo Dave's comment that being ON THE SCENE and available and interested in the process is KEY.  No matter where we have to go for service, we almost never leave the premises.  If we need to duck out for a meal or whatever, we always speak directly to the mechanic or a service manager to leave contact info and clarify our expectations to the mechanic after the service manager writes the work order.  May be overkill ... but our experience is that most shops do not mind the extra communication up front.  Foretravel is our first choice for any service, if we can get there.

We rarely stay with the coach while it's at FT.  Our normal schedule is to leave it in early November while we travel back to Cape Cod for Thanksgiving(with a punch list of items to complete), then pick it up in early December on our way west.  We've never had a problem, whether it's maintenance or renovation related.
