Title: Audit 700 box
Post by: Dan Noble on September 23, 2012, 11:00:33 pm
Hi,

I'm working on replacing my defunct B/W monitor in my new to me 1989 U300.  This is probably a stupid question, but where do I find the Audit CPU box?  I have the top of the dashboard open and my monitor out.  I need to find where to plug the new monitor cable in.  The old monitor was apart and not working when I bought this unit.

Thanks in advance,

Is yours the overhead 9" tv or built into the dash? Edit: stupid question, you just said you had the dash open. Sounds like it may have been removed because it is obvious. Sits exactly in the middle of the dash with the lid up. Looks like a stereo amplifier.

WC: The Audit is a flat, metal box lying on the wood floor of the dash, slightly to the right of where the monitor was. It should have at least one plug still in it. Mine says "Audit" on the top.

Hopefully the attached pictures will come thru.  I don't have any flat metal box or sign of it, just the monitor and a bunch of small wires going from the bottom of the monitor where the switches are, down thru the bottom of the plywood bottom.  The Monitor says "Audit 700" on it.  I'm guessing the CPU is underneath the plywood, but I'm unclear how to access this?  Feel free to email me at dan.noble@royalcanin.us.  Would love to have someone to correspond with to walk me thru this.

Thanks in advance,

The monitor was mounted on the metal plate with the small black box (regulator?) behind it.

Look in the overhead compartment on drivers side for an aluminum encased retangular box about 6 inches long. This is where they put it in the '88 that had the 9"  tv monitor. Maybe they still used the same controller and ran the wires into the dash.

Hi Twig,  no such luck.  Tomorrow I will take out the drawers in the counsel and see if I can get to anything below the dash.

X2,  center of dash plywood floor, on top of the dash floor.

I replaced my monitor and backup cam last week (1990 U280 GV).
The Audit box is behind the stickon thermometer (white thingy on dash).
Camera $16:00 , Monitor $39.00 from Amazon.

BTW.  When I plugged the Audit cables into the new monitor, everything came online perfectly.
Well, except that the Audit display is reversed and flipped from the Camera.  (minor annoyance).

Wow, a sinking feeling in my stomach.  I guess this is where it should be and the wires associated with it?  I'm thinking I'm missing the Audit CPU.....  None of these wires go to the monitor.  Monitor wires all go thru bottom of the plywood down thru the floor in a black plastic tube.

That looks like the switch box that disables the outlet for the TV while driving. No TV watching while driving. Very bad for the paint.

see ya

Try to reverse the image via some of those buttons on the new monitor, many have that capability
