Title: Ride Height Valve
Post by: brrving on October 01, 2012, 06:45:18 pm
Looking for a little help in identifying a minor part. My ride height adjustment valve for the front of the coach somehow lost the exhaust port fitting. I guess it just fell off somehow. It now makes a very loud air rush noise when the coach is adjusting the ride height while traveling. FOT parts says this cannot be purchased without buying the entire Meritor valve #P54399 at about $245.00 (see the attached photo to identify). Seems a simple enough item. Hoping someone has some ideas to locate just the fitting. But if not, guess the valve will be another "spare part" to add to the list.

Thanks

Well, just found Barry Beams' site Ride Height Valve Cover Replacement (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/ride_height_valve_cover_replacement.html) had a detailed write up with the same exact issue! Good info, may go with one of the suggestions.

Just kind of have to fabricate one out of something one may find at Lowes or Ace hardware. All of mine are long gone, one of my round to it projects.

Do  a search for exhaust covers.  Mine are old washing machine hose with rough size steel wool inside attached with zip ties. Not elegant but it works.
If I can find a photo i'll post it later.

Here's an old Yahoo topic with some ideas

What's that sound? (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=5350.0)

It looks like Barry and Cindy also came up with something back then.  It would be interesting to get an update on these fixes and see how they're holding up and what folks may be using/doing now.
