Before leaving Nashville yesterday, I discovered the combination awning over my LR slide had no tension. Efforts to rewind the spring were unsuccessful. I managed to handroll the cloth and secure the travel locks. Twenty miles down I 40 the cloth pulled out of the housing. Again the spring will not engage. If I can get help to hand-roll the awning again, how do I secure the cloth in the aluminum housing? Any ideas appreciated.
Horace we found duct tape criss crossing it and wrapping around the arms worked for us.
But you need lots if you are having a cross wind into the awning.
I had that happen. I went up on the roof and unscrewed two bolts near the front of the awning. I then pushed a zip tie thru it and it will stay shut. You might have to put two of them further down if you have no tension at all. IF all else fails, you can remove a couple lock screws and pull the entire awning off to the rear and slide it in the window. You will need three people to do that though.
