At the GrandV they asked everyone to put their CB on Channel 4---Why? Is this the channel for Foretravel owners to talk to each other on the road. I am still waiting for my first call. DAN
Yes...There is a connection to this choice as in "Four-Travel" Foretravel for those of us who are MC Members... ;D
OK so if I see another Foretravel and they are Motorcade numbered then maybe I should be able to contact them via CB on channel 4. Tks DAN
Since we monitor channel 9 in the coach and in the Jeep (it *is* the emergency channel, after all) I'd have to change to 4 if I saw another Foretravel. I think I'd call them on 9 first and then change to 4.
We treat the CB like we treat the VHF. Except there is so much crap on the CB bands due to skip.

I stay on 19, the trucker channel. Since there are so many trucks on the road I would want to hear "hey westbound Motorhome, your car is loose" rather than some chit chat channel.
I try channel 19 sometimes for the same reason. Unfortunately, when we get near a city the "noise" on the trucker channel becomes annoying and disgusting.
I think we may try monitoring 9. Perhaps "your car is trying to pass you" or "there are flames coming out your doors" would warrant an alert on the "emergency channel."
Dan,
Motorcading 101:
When in a "Foretravel" Motorcade, Rally, Grandvention or similar setting, use CB Channel 4,
IF you want to be (remain) aware of General announcements, Special announcements, Emergency Announcements, Emergency calls for assistance, Etc.. Use of Channel 4 is because it is easy to remember for FT'ers, is generally a quiet channel with little idle or disturbing chit-chat, and because it encourages helpful communications in the particular Motorcade setting.
It is not intended for general FT application outside of the Motorcade setting.
