Title: Cummins 1996 C8.3-325 engine starter
Post by: Barry & Cindy on November 05, 2012, 10:19:00 am
We have a Cummins 1996 C8.3-325 'mechanical' engine in our coach.

We have rebuilt our starter in the past, and would like to replace our starter with a new unit this time.

Has anyone replaced their starter and does anyone know the Cummins part number?

Barry,
Looking at my invoice from May 2006 when the starter failed,

the part number is 3675208RX
Description: STR, D/R 41MT 12V CW 12T

Back then, the Cummins price was $299.32 plus tax.

Good luck...

The MT-41 Delco Starter is a very fine starter. a bit over kill for a 8.3, but very nice

The C8.3 can use a 10 tooth or a 12 tooth starter, there are two way's to check, pull the starter and count the teeth, or the engine serial# and the CPL#.

Guess my old school is showing, as nomal used to be 11 tooth for Cummins &  DDC, 12 teeth for Cat.
ALways learning new facts.

Thanks for the starter replies to my question.  Peter, thanks for pulling your old invoice as it is a big help to have your part number.
