My 98 270 has no 12 volt compressor (at least I can't find one) If my coach had one where would it live?
Do 270s not have them? Can one be added? My first post so be gentle as this could be a total newbie question. :o
on my 98 it is behind the inverter
On my 2000 U270, it is in the first (front-most bay) in the opening toward the front of the motorhome. You have to be inside the bay to see it. And you have to have long arms to reach it.

On our 1997 U295 it is in a cubby with the inverter. To get to it on our 36' coach, I open both sides of the main storage bay, slide out the joey bed, crawl into the bay, remove a panel above the inverter, and lean over the inverter to find the compressor.
If the 12VDC compressor runs, you may be able to find it by sound. Shut down the main engine, bleed off the brake pressure, then try to raise the coach with the HWH control pad. That should call for pressure from the 12VDC compressor. I can hear the compressor run on our coach if all other systems are quiet.
JD's description is a good one for the 1998 U270's, as well.

It is likewise behind the inverter in our 99', Which you can see hanging from the main floor on the street side frontmost corner of the basement storage compartment.

It seems to me that on my '96 295 it is in the back of the compartment above the house batteries
You have to unscrew the gray rug covered plate. It is the same compartment that the Amp-Hour shunt lives in.
YMMV
