Pulling the Bose out. Now I need an AVR which will fit in a cabinet 12" deep. There are HTIB solutions such as the Samsung HT-E5400 ($330) which is 10" deep, but it's meant to drive 3ohm speakers. Any more traditional solutions you've found? The closest I've found is the Yamaha NeoHD, 11" wide, sells for around $200 on ebay.
We don't watch satellite TV and don't watch dvd's, so these aren't issues. We just use OTA TV and a media player.
Coach is already set up to take a big screen TV, takes a 40" to fill the cabinet. This puts a center channel speaker pretty low. Planning to replace the Bose cubes with Hsu satellites I already had, but the center channel is 5" high.
Thanks for any suggestions.
You could install an automotive 12V head unit with or without remote amps for a great sound. The really good models have remotes, bluetooth, usb, high definition FM audio, can play CD, DVD, MP3, etc. Also consider Apple TV. Tiny and you can wireless in your laptop display, iTunes, photos, etc. Best models at: Car Audio Review 2013 | Compare Car Audio Stereos | Car Stereo Systems - (http://car-audio-review.toptenreviews.com/) Also can effortlessly mirror a iPad to your 40 inch. Imagine a 40" GPS display.
Best audio speakers would use a Monsoon MM-2000 if you can find one or find the flat panels on ebay and use with 12V amps, woofer. Just about impossible to beat these and they sound better than most high end home systems. Also, they take up no room as they are flat. The PC magazine link didn't work but got to look at head units on the top ten review link. Couldn't find the Monsoon anywhere. Checked amps and speakers on Amazon. Looks like $200for head unit, $200 for 5 channel amplifier, not sure about speakers but $200 to $500 looks right for 5.
I didn't mention, but price does matter. I'm about $200 to $300 away from a system now, hope to stay close to this. Appreciate the help but don't think car audio is where I'll end up.
Thanks
