Title: Trying to remove Atwood valve assy arrrgh.
Post by: Chuck Pearson on December 26, 2012, 01:56:53 pm
Trying to remove the valve/ignitor assembly from an 85 series Atwood furnace.  Problem is the flare nut on end of gas line is protruding into space not allowing assembly to slide out.  Anybody know a trick to remove?

Never mind, got it.  Brute force method.  Pulled valve assembly, scotchbrited electrodes, reset gap, actuated valve and blew it out.  Reassembled and works like a champ.

I have seen many times where there little bugs that get in the line from the valve to the orfice and then when you turn on the furnace they block the orfice and the furnace will not light. By removing the orfice and cleaning it can get it to work again.

There will soon be dirt dauber screens on everything that breathes on the coach.  Those industrious little beggars obviously have some demolition training.

We had a furnace failure because of dauber nests. The furnace would do everything properly except support a flame. I let Wayne at FOT fix mine. He replaced the burner which was destroyed by the combination of dauber nests and heat. I added some additional dauber screens on the furnaces and the vent for the water heater.

They love the exhaust ports on the HWH 6-pack manifolds...  Something to keep in mind if you ever have leveling troubles related to letting air out.
