Title: Sewer hose adapter needed for 1995 U300 Help please
Post by: Hans&Marjet on December 30, 2012, 11:15:34 am
We bought our coach about 2 weeks ago and getting ready to travel to South Carolina the end of this week. I purchased a new 15ft sewer line with twist on end ,when trying to mate it up to the coach I removed the white thetford sewer line cap . Now I'm finding that the coach sewer line flange is bigger than the standard twist on from the hose.

I must be missing something or bought the wrong sewer line..????

Help please I need to dump my tanks at some point..

Thanks, Hans

Hans,

You need a Thedford to Valterra adapter.  Available at most RV supply stores.  I buy two, one to use and one as a spare just in case one of the ears breaks off.

If you are going to do that put on a third valve and put the fitting on the valve that way you can back flush and also if a valve fails you do not get a black wAter surprise.

Use the search function of Foreforums and search for "third valve" (no quotes in the search window). You will find several references and explanations regarding a "third valve."

I also added a "third valve" to facilitate back flushing the black water tank and to function as a backup valve in case of a failure of one of the primary valves.

Your surprise when trying to attach your dump hose is very common for new owners. The Thetford hook up was chosen by Foretravel because it was much more reliable than the ears on the Valtera but it never caught on in the industry. Therefore the Thetford bayonet for the sewer line is almost impossible to find and the store employees look at you like your crazy when you tell them their hose won't fit.

The third valve with a Valtera hookup is one of the best upgrades I have made to my coach. The Valtera is the most common connector for available hoses. The third valve makes dumping the tanks much cleaner, easier and faster. As suggested, do a search of the forum for third valve and you will see what we are talking about. Then get yours changed. IMHO

And welcome to the Foreforum Family.

If you are at a rally and the Honey Wagon comes by to empty your tanks most will not be able to hook up to your Foretravel without an adapter and they don't have one so get two and always keep one handy. DAN

HANS,
Had the same problem. Purchased an adapter from a company called "Vintage trailer supply". As I recall about 8 or 9 dollars.
