Looks like new water pump time the original is heading west. I know there has been some discussion about the durability of some of the new pumps. I'm thinking about a Sureflo 4048 4.0, are they any good?
I got one to replace my pump and it works fine by me. I got mine off ebay for about 110. Mine did not match up exactly, and required cutting the tubes/lines to fit. So when you start the job, realize that it is not a plug and play situation. Had to go back to get some fittings.

The blue tank is what I believe to be the accumulator tank and yes it is still in the system. I had seen how several people were really happy with the 4048 and my pump seemed to be taking a long time coming up to pressure (was still working tho). I saw the pump on ebay and bought it as an upgrade to the older one. I have had mine for several months and will say so far happy with the pump. I went on ebay after I responded and noted that the pump had gone up a little since I bought mine. If you need one, I think you will be happy with it.
We like our Shurflo 4048. Been using it for over a year with no problems.
Our accumulator is out of the system when we use our Shurflo 4048 water pump. We also enjoy have the accumulator space back.
Correct. The blue tank is the accumulator. It can easily be checked. There is a shrader valve (just like the valve on your tire) with a cap on it. Remove the cap. With shore water off and water pump off AND a faucet open to drain off pressure, use a tire gauge to check pressure. The pressure should be your pump cut-in PSI less 2 PSI. So for a 25 PSI cut-in pressure accumulator, set pressure to 23 PSI.
If, when you depress the valve on the accumulator, water comes out, the bladder is bad and the accumulator needs to be replaced.
Decided to go with the original Flojet set up pump and accumulator system $341.00 total inc shipping, should be here Wed. this week. It should be plug and play and the old one lasted 13 years.
