Title: Insurance change
Post by: Wattalife54 on January 15, 2013, 08:08:30 am
A shout out to Barry and Cindy for their recommendation of the insurance company Overland.  We came out $600.00 ahead by changing from Progressive.  Sounds like vacation money to me!!  Thanks a million:)      Faith

We just changed to Overland from Progressive too. Only saved about $50.00 yr. but tripled our coverage limits from $300,000 to $1,000,000. I feel much more comfortable with the higher liability coverage on my 34,000 lb coach. Ron Jarvie was great to work with too.

We've been with Overland agency ~7 years.  Initially, they wrote a great Progressive policy.  When we went full-time, they recommended changing to Allied and we saved >$500.

Our Allied policy (and Progressive before it) is agreed value, set at the purchase price we paid in 2009.  The premium (with no changes) dropped $250/yr in 2012, and $125/yr for the 2013 renewal - same agreed value, no changes.

A new Overland "perk" - with the renewal notice was an announcement the agency now offers highly discounted Coach-Net rates for the "Platinum Plus RV Towing and Roadside Assistance Program with RV Technical Support."  One year is $89 (2 yrs, $160... more savings up to 5 yrs).  We just paid $129 for the same program (through FMCA) in November.  Overland said to hang on to their flyer and send the check for Coach-Net to them in October, so no coverage lapse.  Sweet!    ^.^d

I would encourage a call to Overland for a quote (800-677-4027) - the agency is strictly devoted to writing RV policies (all states except Hawaii).  As Dean pointed out, they are great to work with.  Here's their website:

I currently have GMAC inaurance through Good Sam on the RV.  Found out my renewal payments increased from $1260 a year to $1760 a year because I live in FL.

So I called Overland insurance and got a quote of $952/yr with higher liability coverage :)

Just thought I'd share this info.  If you live in FL - you might want to consider calling these people!

We saved several hundred dollars with Overland and I also prefer them as they are a small agency that specializes in insurance for RV owners. Overland owner is also going to be a speaker at the upcoming Buddy Rally in Nac.

I also went with Overland, Ron Jarvie.  Found him here and the policy and coverage looked good and the cost seemed in line.  I did no other comparisons other than GMAC/Good Sam (carried them on our TT) - probably should have but figured - since the insurance company and Ron were so highly recommended I would give him/them a try.

Well, I too joined Overland. Had Allstate. After reading here about Ron and Overland gave him a try. Ended up with better coverage in ALL areas and saved $475.00 to boot. Should have found him a few years ago and saved a bundle. Thanks forum.

Ron and Overland ought to give a Foreforums discount. <grin> That's who we went with, too. We also went with the CoachNet deal they offered. I pray that we never need it, but glad to have it.

I contacted Ron - his quote was about 80 dollars above last year, so I will find out next month how close he is when I fall into my renewal window. Currently have Explorer Insurance Agency (Triumph Casualty) out of Richfield OH.

Last year's premium $580.00, Rating basis $70K. 95 U320. Part time use.

I requested an Overland quote and it came out about 90 bucks higher than my present Coverage with Miller Agency and Progressive.  Since I have been with them for over ten years I will leave well enough alone.  And in view of the fact that I pay less than 500 bucks a year it is really not a big enough expense to worry about. ( Now if I add a be-day I may have to rethink this ). :)
