Title: Change from lap belts to lap/shoulder belts
Post by: nitehawk on January 23, 2013, 11:35:52 pm
Our '89 GV only has lap belts. Has anyone changed over to the lap/shoulder belt style?

If so, any pictures? Where did the shoulder belts get anchored? What brand belt?

I had shoulder belts on my last coach this one has new seats and only lap belts. I had my shoulder belt anchored in the seat not on the wall so I do not know if you can retrofit them. THere is very little need for one though for the passenger especially as there is nothing to hit in front of them.

FYI, the new IH-45 only has lap belts for both driver and passenger.  I suspect you can order it with shoulder belts though.

I have a friend with a 96 u320 and he had FT change out the driver and passenger seats with the shoulder belt built in.

He is very happy with that change.

Someone posted a picture of a wrecked unicoach for sale recently.  I noted a large exit hole fracture in the drivers side ws.  Hopefully it was a frying pan or something but maybe not.  Shoulder belts are probably a good idea if they can be properly mounted.  Improperly mounted they may do more harm than good.
