Title: headlight alignment
Post by: John Haygarth on January 24, 2013, 02:50:59 pm
Have decided to try and set the headlights on our 295 as I am sure they are off. Does anyone have info on our units for setting, like height of lows and distance away from wall etc. Have been looking on google but most are for cars although it seems to be very general info and may also pertain to coaches.

John,

Same info for cars will work OK.  Just change the measurements for your coach.  Have the coach in running trim.  Make sure that the area is level in both planes.  If you have a deserted road near you it's also possible to adjust each lamp to give the best illumination.  Block off the other lamp with something or use the DW to stand in front of it (they do have their uses).  Not as good as the measurement method but it works.  Just make sure that the low beams are not blinding oncoming traffic.  When you Goggled it did you look under "Images"?  There are several diagrams there.

Keith, before George decides to use me as a target :)) , I decided to look up and see what I could find - I found the link below to be an interesting tutorial for cars.  What do you think about its relevance for FTs?

Patricia,

Daniel Stern knows his stuff.  I would not have any problems following his directions.  The main thing is that the low beams do not dazzle oncoming drivers.  Not a problem with the high beams as they should not be on in oncoming traffic.  Just make sure that the low-beams provide enough illumination at the speeds you drive.  Most people overdrive their lights.

How about calling Rance at Xtreme? He is the one that sets them after the headlight mod.

Thanks, Keith!  I definitely don't need to be a "deer in the headlights" for George!  :P

Thanks all I had googled but came  up with these ideas but the D Stern page is good and understandable not like some of the others. I think I will try it tonight. Have the perfect location and setting-level.

I'm sure that George would think you would be "the dear in the headlights" rather than "the deer in the headlights!" ;D
