I recently saw that Dishnetwork is now offering hi speed internet service.
I could not find what satellite or satellites the service uses and if that is the same set of satellites that there TV programming uses.
Does any body use the new Dishnet service from the RV?
I checked a couple of months ago and it was just an arrangement with Hughes Net. It would still have required a new, very expensive roof top dish and an additional monthly cost for the service. Sorry, I don't remember the details. Just call Dish and be persistent until you find someone familiar with the program.
If this is the "Exede" powered one, you need a fixed, certified technician-pointed antenna. According to the FAQs it is not available for mobile applications.

We have an old Hughes dish and would be glad to send for the cost of shipping. Their new program is much less expensive. As DSL and wireless are gradually taking over, they will cut you a deal on the equipment. It does work a thousand times better than dialup but not in the same league as cable/dsl high speed. The other problem is the dish is MUCH larger/heavier than a Dish Network satellite dish. It would be fine for extended stays but really cumbersome for someone who moves around much. I have seen RVs with a Hughes setup on the road so while they discourage it, some do it. Search for forums with hughes, satellite, RV as key words for the possibilities. Also check YouTube (http://www.youtube.com) for a video on how to do it.

I used a Hughes dish for years before switching to a Verizon MiFi card. With a suitable stand it is possible to travel with it, setting it up nightly if you want. Alignment is an order of magnitude more difficult than setting up a satellite dish, but if you've done the latter, you can set up a Hughes dish.
