Title: 110v under the dash?
Post by: Roger & Susan in Home2 on February 21, 2013, 10:33:06 pm
Well, my coach is in the barn and it is cold out there so in prep for the list of projects coming soon,  I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a 110v outlet inside/under the dash?  2001 U320.

Thanks for passing on your help.

On many older coaches, there is a 120V outlet next to the drivers seat (wall side).  It's hard to see, but would be fine for a heater.

In my 2002, there is a 120 volt outlet to the right of the accelerator pedal - on the curve of the center pod.

Our U300 has an outlet just inside the center console down on the floor. Guessing about a foot from the go pedal. Was used for the TV, now powers the DVD player, sat receiver, etc.

My U295 has a duplex just below and to the right of the spec plate on the left side of the driver's seat.

OK, 6 inches of snow this morning but I made it out to the barn to have a look-see.  On my 2001 U320 there is no 110v outlet to the right of the "go" pedal or anywhere under the dash area in front of the driver's seat.  I know there is a 110v outlet to the left and behind the drivers seat.  There may be 110v wiring somewhere inside, I guess I will have to look further.  There maybe a 12v power option as well.

Thanks.

One of the 12V lighter plugs up front is coach batteries, the other engine batteries. At least on our U300. Good way to check voltage with a plug in digital voltmeter.

My 2001 has an outlet just where you found yours. I ran a short extension cord to the dash to run my laptop for my silverleaf.  I have tapped right into the 12 volt power behind the panel near the front door. There was a bit of room and I put in a new breaker and ran the wire up to the overhead compartment for my wifi extender. It needed 12 volt and 110. THere is a 110 volt power behind the TV. You will have to remove the back wall in one of the cabinets to see it. It is a double plug for the TV. I use them with a power strip to run the DVR and the DVD and TV as well.

Just noticed OWC sells duplex outlets with 2 usb charging outlets in 4 colors. See at: NewerTech NWTPWR2USBBK Power2U AC Wall Outlet with... in stock at OWC (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/PWR2USBBK/)  Big price difference for one of the colors. About $15 except for the ivory.
